For future reference: Guidelines recommend 4oz cheese and 1/2 bottle of wine per guest. Thus, 30 people = 7.5 lbs cheese, 15 bottles wine; 40 people = 10 lbs cheese, 20 bottles wine. (In fact, this probably explains why last year we only went through 1 case, with about 24 people. Ha.) So far, we've bought 4 lbs at Trader Joe's, but are making the main Butcherie run this evening at 5:30. If you have requests, get 'em in now! (Watch this space on Thursday for the rundown.)
Where in the shul would it be most appealing to hold tomorrow night's Wine & Cheese Soiree?
Downstairs/vestry, Bet side (clearing preschool paraphernalia as best we can)
Sanctuary (careful of crumbs!)
Foyer (reminiscent of kiddush; careful of stairs!)
Upstairs/Gimmel room (far from kitchen, but best compromise on atmosphere)
Crowd 30-40 people into Miriam's office
When are we going to shoehorn a proper library/lounge space into that building??
What December Jewish-themed music/performance events would you be interested in?
Hadag Nachash, 12/14 (venue still TBA)
"JEWltide" (Golem, DJ SoCalled, and Shtreiml), 12/21 at TT the Bear's
"Jewmongous!" (Sean Altman), 12/27 at Passim
Something else (please elaborate in comments)
OMG why does everything cool have to happen in December? Don't we get any cultural identity the rest of the year?
